Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ)

Whether you’re a beginner or experienced grappler, in your teens or an adult, our BJJ classes are great for self-defense and sport, for both recreational purposes and a serious competitive edge. Benefits include gained confidence and a sense of discipline, as well as a regimented training program you can depend on, a total body workout, increased fitness levels, and weight loss.
Our Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu training incorporates both Gi (Uniform), and No Gi classes. Gi and No Gi are two sides of the same coin. While they are indeed two distinct sports with characteristics based on attire, they both stem from the same Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu delivery system and share the same positional strategies, featuring control and submissions through mastery of leverage, pressure, mobility, and timing. We encourage exploration into both sports as we feel it will give you an overall better appreciation of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu as an art. Each sport is usually characterized by a different pace and arsenal unique unto itself. Learning both these aspects of grappling will only add to your development as a complete BJJ Athlete.

CLASSES

BASICS LVL 1-3
The building blocks of great Jiu-Jitsu... Coming into a martial art academy can be intimidating, but no experience is necessary to participate in these classes.
Basics is comprised of all different skill levels. Whether you’ve had prior experience or it’s your first class, we can start you at the basics or help you to build on what you already know; higher belts can always improve or review the basics.

The difference between a White Belt and Black Belt is the dedication to repeat a move until it comes becomes effortless. With a strong focus on self-defense, Basics is designed to prepare students for both self-defense situations and Sport Jiu-Jitsu; while at the same time improving cardiovascular endurance, balance and coordination. The Basic Program is for any adult, male or female, of any body type, or age.

ALL LEVELS
All Levels operates off of a rotating curriculum specifically designed to build a strong foundation in all 3 ranges of techniques: Basics, Interm. and Advanced, so that a student may feel comfortable and acquainted with the techniques and training methodologies that he/she will encounter at a higher level.

ADVANCED LVL 3+
The Advanced Class is designed for the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu student who would like to progress their Jiu-Jitsu to another level. The focus of this class is learning how to combine basic and complex techniques into a comprehensive strategy. The Advanced Class is guaranteed to advance your Jiu-Jitsu to the next level and enhance the Jiu-Jitsu experience. This class is faster paced with more cardio, sparring and takedowns.

COMPETITION TEAM
The Competition Team is open to members who are training to compete in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu/Grappling or MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) Competition (Gi & No Gi). There are a set of guidelines that have to be met in order to be part of the Competition Team. The class includes a harder workout and more sparring time.

NO GI
No Gi Jiu-Jitsu focuses on learning and applying the fundamentals of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu without the traditional Gi uniform. No Gi Jiu-Jitsu is dynamic and great for taking your fitness to a new level. In fact, much of what you see in mixed martial arts (MMA) today is learned in No Gi training but its applications are different for every student.
Students who have previous wrestling experience find No Gi Jiu-Jitsu a great extension of their wrestling background. No Gi Jiu-Jitsu is also great for beginners who want to learn an effective and practical form of self defense or street combat. Students who enroll for the traditional Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu program are encouraged to try this exciting, fast-paced form of traditional Jiu-Jitsu.

Students are required to wear training/fight shorts (board shorts or Gi pants acceptable) and a rashguard or t-shirt.

KIDS BJJ (5-8) | JUNIORS BJJ (9-15)
Our Kids (5-8) & Juniors (9-15) Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes will help your child develop self-confidence, discipline, respect, and coordination while training in a fun and exciting family atmosphere. They will learn the fundamental movements of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu while interacting with other children their age in order to prepare and advance to the adult classes.

*The overlap in age groups among the Youth Classes allows coaches to accomodate the needs of each individual student and place them accordingly. Ages are a generalization.

OPEN MAT
Open Mat is unstructured training time. It's the ideal time for a student to put in extra time on the mat, Grappling, Kickboxing, either practicing technique or sparring with a training partner. It’s also a great opportunity to ask your instructor any questions you have about Jiu-Jitsu, exercise, diet, etc.

PRIVATE/GROUP LESSONS
A private lesson is a 30-60 minute one on one training session between the student and the Instructor. The purpose of these lessons is to focus on the individual needs of each student, and to help them develop their own strategies and style. Private lessons are ideal for those who want to drastically improve their technique and conditioning in a short period of time. They can be either taken alone or with a group of up to 4 people. Doing small group lessons allows you to split the cost amongst the group while still learning specific techniques which apply to yourself to improve your game.
